Get ready to be amazed by the latest addition to the Grand Seiko family - the SBGX359 and SBGX361, the brand's smallest 9F quartz watches! These timepieces are a testament to the brand's innovation and dedication to precision.
The Smallest Yet Mightiest 9F
Grand Seiko has unveiled a new Caliber 9F51 quartz movement, powering the smallest 9F-based watch ever. With a case size of just 33mm by 9.1mm, these watches pack a punch! Despite their compact dimensions, they retain all the essential features of Grand Seiko's renowned quartz caliber.
The Caliber 9F51 boasts a regulation switch for manual accuracy adjustments during servicing, a Backlash Auto-Adjust Mechanism for smooth seconds-hand movement, and a Twin Pulse Control Motor for powerful torque. It achieves an impressive accuracy of ±10 seconds per year within a temperature range of 5°C to 35°C. And here's the kicker - it's 0.6mm smaller than its predecessor, the 9F61 caliber!
A Classic Design, Reimagined
The rest of the watch is a familiar sight - the iconic Snowflake dial, first introduced in 2005, and its successor, the Skyflake, capturing the beauty of wind-swept snow. The case, bracelet, and clasp all embody the brand's Heritage Collection design, a true signature.
These watches will be available from April 2026 onwards at Grand Seiko boutiques and select retailers worldwide, with a retail price of $3,200.
Our Take
While these watches might not be for everyone, they showcase Grand Seiko's commitment to continuous improvement across its product lines. It's refreshing to see technical advancements and compact sizes not limited to men's watches. With a proven design and dial, these releases are strong, even with a $500 price increase compared to previous 9F models like the SBGX261.
